Most people want to stay in their own homes for as long as possible, but sometimes it becomes too hard to do the day-to-day tasks, even with help. Adult foster care provides care and support in a home-like environment. If any of the following apply to you, or someone you know, adult foster care may be right for you or someone you care about. Failing to prepare meals or maintain adequate nutrition. Forgetting to take medication or taking the wrong amount. Not being able to take care of daily personal needs like bathing, dressing, grocery shopping, cooking, washing clothes, or transportation. Falling, bruising, scratches, or other injuries resulting from falls. Having ongoing illness or need for rehabilitation. Depression, anxiety, fear, or difficulty remembering people, places, or other things that used to be familiar. Family and friends are unable to provide adequate care.
Providers provide meals and assistance with eating Dressing Grooming and hygiene Continence care Mobility assistance Behavioral support Medications Activities Some providers offer more complex care due to their training and experience or with the help of visiting nurses. For example, a caregiver may be instructed by a registered nurse on how to carry out a care task that is specific to a resident. Some providers may meet the needs of a particular resident if they are coming directly from a hospital after surgery, or if the resident is recovering from a severe illness.
